This famous gothic novel written in 1818 tells of the creation of a monster and the consequences of pushing against the laws of nature. But beyond this story lies interesting worldview questions about human nature, moral responsibility, the Creator/creature relationship, in addition to aspects of style and storytelling (eg. the novel features not one but three narrators). We will discuss both literary aspects of the novel as well as themes and issues on worldview relevant for our own day.
