William Tyndale was an educated and accomplished young man but his greatest accomplishment was never recognised by the mighty men and rulers of his day. His last prayer was "Oh Lord, open the King of England's eyes." For it was that King with others who harried him across Europe in order to put a stop to the translation work on the English Bible.
Willaim believed that the people of his own land should be allowed to read God's word in their own language. However the rulers of the churches and the thrones of Europe feared for their own influence and power. God's word translated for the ordinary people would bring them down. So instead they went all out to bring William Tyndale down before he could do any further damage. However this was not to be - even as he was burnt at the stake Tyndale had already translated most of the Bible into English and his work was done.
