Margaret Wilson is one of the Covenanters, a group of people who are being persecuted by the Soldiers of the King. All they want to do is to worship God in freedom but that is not allowed. Margaret and her family live in fear of their lives so together with her brother and sister they leave the family home to live in hiding in the hills. How do they survive? Will the soldiers find them? And who is the young man who promises to help them find shelter through the long cold, winter months?
Margaret has to learn to trust her friends and her family but most importantly she learns to trust in God and his care for her. This is a trust that remains with her even when things go wrong. There may be danger on the hill and Margaret's life may hang by a thread but she knows that she has a great and faithful God that she can trust, whatever happens.
